Black & White Rug and Affordable Fall Favorites
Is anyone else having a crazy busy September? The days just seem to be flying by! My hubby’s birthday is tomorrow and our youngest daughter turns 14 on Monday. Then our oldest daughter has Homecoming this weekend. And in the middle of all this, fall has officially snuck up on me.
I’m not one to go crazy with fall decorations, and I’ve never been a big fan of pumpkin orange (even though I grew up on a farm with an official pick-your-own pumpkin patch, hayrack rides, and petting zoo.) But what I really love in the fall is getting cozy with textures and natural elements.
So I’m so excited to share with you my new black and white rug from Walmart!

We have plans to eventually replace the carpeting throughout the house (which is in the living room and all throughout the upstairs and my son’s room downstairs.) So needless to say, it will be a pretty big chunk of change. But until then, this new rug does wonders in camouflaging the dated carpet and cozying up our living room for fall and winter.
Honestly, I’ve never layered a rug on top of carpet before.
But wow. What a change it can make!!
I needed a large rug to be able to slide it under the sectional and the 9’3″x12’6″ version fit perfectly. But it also comes in smaller sizes.
And can you believe it’s under $350?!? Rugs this large can run upwards of $1000 sometimes, so this definitely puts a check mark in the “how do I get the most bang for my buck” box 🙂

I envision lots of snuggling up in front of the fire place this fall and winter. I’m sure there might be a few sleepovers and movie nights camping out right here too! It is so soft (1.5″ pile height) and I haven’t noticed any shedding. #winner
Here’s a better view of how the new black and white rug looks over the carpet. It lays flat really well too, which was a pleasant surprise.
And someone else sure loves to snuggle up on it…
I am slowly adding a few more fall touches to the living room. I grabbed a few white and muted heirloom pumpkins yesterday, and dug out these antlers that my dad found and added some wood bead garland to layer on the coffee table.
I have some fun ideas for artwork on this wall above the couch, so stay tuned!
If you are in a crazy busy season like I am, I encourage you to take the time to add a few cozy touches for fall. It can be as easy as clipping a few branches from your yard to decorate your table, or lighting a yummy pumpkin scented candle. Fall harvest is a time to to welcome friends and family into our homes and enjoy time together. And shopping on Walmart.com can make things a little easier, especially with their free shipping and next day delivery on certain items. Which definitely comes in handy for procrastinators like me 🙂 I ordered my daughter’s birthday present 2 days ago and it arrived today!
Take a peak at some of my favorite fall decor items below that won’t break the bank. And I’ll be back in a few days to share my new fall pillows.
Have a blessed week, everyone!
