Still have lots to do of course, but can I just take a second to brag on my awesome hubby? He did all this work BY HIMSELF! (ok, he did have the plumber do the rough in) but he did all the subway tile, shiplap, trim, and floors himself. I know some of these shows we watch on HGTV make everything look so quick and easy. They have 15 guys take over the site and they’re done in 10 days.

Well, unfortunately that’s not real life. At least that’s not how we do it – I wish we could afford to hire 15 guys!

And he is over there today tiling the shower! So blessed to have such a handy hubby!

I know we’ve deviated somewhat from the initial plan, but those basketweave floors I originally fell in love with just didn’t fit the budget for a flip house (they were over $20/sq ft and would have been much harder to install.) So I went with a less expensive and easier installation floor to give Craig a much needed break.

We still need to grout, but I really like these 12×24 porcelain floors from Floor & Decor and they were only $2.99/sqft! They are a soft greenish-gray color and I think they will look really pretty with the SW Sea Salt walls and Alabaster white shiplap.

And I’ve got this pretty vanity coming in a few days from Amazon:

It’s all starting to come together! I’m hoping to get some kitchen details nailed down this week so stay tuned! Thanks for reading and have a great week 🙂

**check out what I just found on AMAZON! I am loving all their farmhousey decor lately, and they usually ship super fast too!

  1. I just found your blog and have enjoyed looking at the pics from your flips. When I lived in Seattle several years ago we flipped houses (my partner is a realtor and I worked for a mortgage broker). My job was very part time so I had lots of time to work with our carpenter and learned how to do basic electric work, finish drywall, install vinyl, etc. but my favorite thing was designing kitchens. Nothing more satisfying than knocking out nasty cabinets and walls and making something beautiful! Love the work you guys are doing on this new place. Hope you get an offer as quickly on this home as you did the last. I know it’s going to be a beauty!

    1. thanks so much for your sweet comment Suzan! Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply (the kiddos are out of school now which makes things a little more hectic!) But I totally agree – designing kitchens are SO fun! I am ordering our cabs this week – eek! I’m hoping everything comes together as well as it looks in my head, LOL 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting!

    1. thanks so much Kim! We are anxiously waiting to get this thing done ourselves. I love adding all these fun details to the design, but man they take a long time to finish! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I love the look of your bathroom! We will be remodeling a small bathroom soon, and I like your vanity from Amazon. Have you been happy with it? Looks amazing.

    1. Thanks so much Roxanne! YES, this vanity is gorgeous in person! We haven’t fully installed it yet (still waiting to place the top on & add faucets) but it is definitely an attention grabber! The other nice thing that my hubby appreciated was the marble top came detached from the vanity. In other words, it didn’t weigh a million pounds and was much easier to install than the vanities where the top is already attached. I hope to leave a more detailed review with pictures on the blog soon once we get everything installed.

  3. The home looks good so far. I just have a question. I see that you added the wood shiplap in the bathroom as well. What measures did you take to protect the wood from moisture in the bathroom? Won’t the wood expand and get moldy being in that environment?

    1. Hi Jo, thanks for stopping by! We have sealed the wood with primer, and allowed proper spacing between the shiplap boards to accommodate for expansion & movement. There is also an exhaust fan and window that allows for good ventilation. I personally love the warmth and texture wood surfaces bring to a space and think it can be used in baths as long as proper measures are taken. If you think about it, wood panel doors are frequently used in bathrooms and no one thinks twice about those! 🙂

  7. It looks great so far and I would love to see the finished photos. I have just finished using subway tile in my shower and I don’t think I have the energy or heart to install 1000 more in my tub surround. We are thinking of using ship lap instead so I would love to see how you were finished results turned out

    1. thanks so much Tina! I’ll email you a pic since I don’t have any posted on my blog yet (#badblogger) 🙂

    1. Hi Kim, we just purchased the subway tile from our local Menards (just a standard white color.) If you don’t have a local store, you can order it online for a great price from Wayfair.
