Shiplap: 15 Awesome Tutorials

When I posted on Monday, I was hoping to share with you my awesome shiplap tutorial this week.

Well, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is…. Craig is almost done installing the shiplap at Mouse House, and it looks A W E S O M E!

The bad news is, I didn’t make a tutorial (#badblogger). You guys, my photography skillz royally suck (excuse my language) and I was getting SO frustrated that I couldn’t get good shots. and my handy dandy shiplap installer kept moving before the camera shutter fully exposed the shot and I just have ZERO patience. So. In order to save my sanity and my marriage, I gave up. that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!

But… I have more good news! I didn’t write a tutorial, but I found 15 awesome tutorials for you to check out – all in one place! These super talented bloggers have really blown me away with their ideas, and they have way better photography (and patience!) skills than me.

Check them out below, and I’ll be back next week with another Mouse House update. It’s starting to look like a real house (finally!)

  1. LOVE the honesty! And why recreate what’s already out there! Can’t wait to look at some of those sites.

    1. thanks Michelle – it was an epic failure trying to get all the pictures! and Craig was definitely not a very willing model, LOL! I have a totally new respect now for all the fabulous diy tutorials out there. they are not as easy to achieve as you’d think! So yes – why recreate the wheel, right? thanks for reading 🙂

  2. This is SO handy! We’re planning to do shiplap in one of our bedrooms, but we’re actually thinking about installing it vertically like beadboard.

Can I ask why you used pine instead of the plywood method others have used? I know there are pros and cons to each, and I’m trying to figure out which method we should try 🙂

    1. Hi Meg! You know what, I’m not really sure why we decided to go with pine other than I just LOVE the look and feel of the “real” thing. And we are fixing up this house to sell, so I am adding little touches that I think will maximize our profits and allow us to ask top dollar for the house. This type of “real” shiplap is a bit more expensive (80 cents/ per linear ft) than the awesome plywood tutorials I’ve rounded up. So if you’re on a tight budget you might want to stick with those. I just posted a shiplap update today on the blog so you can check that out here: https://theharperhouse.com/flip-house-update-shiplap-week/ . thanks so much for stopping by – it was a treat finding your blog and awesome farmhouse last night! Keep in touch!
